A property business, a national association, and a long-standing interest in how things are run.

I started in property in 2011 and have spent most of the time since then somewhere between running a business and trying to improve the industry it sits in.

Before any of that, I was involved in community organisations — youth work, volunteering, the Country Fire Service. That is probably where the interest in governance came from. If you spend enough time in volunteer organisations you learn quickly that good intentions do not survive bad structures.

Property and strata turned out to suit me. It is a sector where the technical detail matters, but almost every difficult problem is really a people problem: an owner who feels unheard, a committee that cannot agree, a building with twenty years of deferred decisions.

In 2013 I became involved in Strata Community Association governance. I served six years as President of the South Australian chapter and led the merger of the South Australian and Northern Territory chapters — a piece of work that was less about strategy documents and more about convincing two groups of people that they were better off together.

From there I moved into national governance, including as Vice President, and became National President of Strata Community Association Australasia in July 2024. The association represents the strata sector across Australia and New Zealand, and the work spans policy, advocacy, professional standards, education, government relations, technology, sustainability and electric vehicle infrastructure.

Alongside that, I'm Principal and Executive Director of Munro Property Group, an established, locally owned South Australian business based in Norwood, working across residential, commercial and strata property. Running a business keeps the industry conversations honest — it is easy to have views about the sector when you are not the one implementing them on a Monday morning.

Community involvement has stayed part of the picture. I'm a Justice of the Peace for South Australia, and over the years I've been involved with Encounter Youth, the Country Fire Service, Baptist Churches of South Australia, the Norwood Parade precinct and, for a while, raising a puppy for Guide Dogs SA/NT with mixed success on the obedience front.

Away from work I'm a husband and a dad. My faith matters to me and shapes how I think about people and responsibility, though I'd rather it showed up in how I work than in how I describe myself. Family life stays largely off the internet, which is deliberate.

What I'm most interested in now is where professional work is heading — how technology and AI change the shape of a services business, what standards and governance need to look like as density increases, and how organisations keep judgement at the centre of what they do.
